You are invited to Calvin College Career Center's annual Employer Conference, taking place on May 1, noon-4:00, at the Prince Conference Center on our campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Register on Eventbrite.
This year's topic, "What now?: Assessing and Improving Cultural Intelligence and Diversity in your Organization," will equip you with skills to assess your organization's current state, develop a roadmap for the future, and implement your diversity and inclusion plan. The conference will start with networking over lunch, followed by two sessions.
Session One: Michelle Loyd-Paige, PhD
Calvin College Executive Associate to the President for Diversity and Inclusion
- In addition to her appointment in Calvin College's President's office, Dr. Loyd-Paige, serves as a Professor of Sociology at Calvin and an Associate Pastor at Angel Community Church in Muskegon, MI. She has been championing diversity and inclusion efforts in higher education for decades, coordinating deep, pervasive and meaningful change in the way organizations understand and practice diversity and inclusion. Through this session, participants will assess the current state of their organization's diversity and inclusion efforts as well as communicate the convincing case for why these efforts are important.
Session Two: Kristin Ekkens, MA
Director of Corporate Partnerships for the Cultural Intelligence Center
- A cultural strategist, consultant, and global speaker, Kristin Ekkens helps organizations drive culturally intelligent innovation. Prior to joining the Cultural Intelligence Center as Director of Corporate Partnerships, Kristin led system-wide inclusion and diversity efforts at an integrated healthcare organization of over 25,000 employees. She worked closely with various stakeholders to integrate cultural intelligence into the organization's DNA, creating a more inclusive and equitable culture that produced business results. Kristin also led initiatives to attract, retain, promote, and leverage diverse talent. This session will provide participants with practical knowledge on how to put in place a diversity and inclusion plan in all types of organizations.
