Challenges for the Next President: Election Post Mortem

  • Thursday, November 10, 2016
  • 3:30 PM–5:00 PM
  • DeVos Communication Center Lobby

With the dust from the balloting settled, experts consider the 2016 election.

Regardless of the results of Election Day, the earth will quite likely still be turning the day after and on Inauguration Day in January. Whether you will be celebrating, mourning, or wondering what happened, join Calvin’s political science faculty in a post-mortem panel to begin sorting things out. What are the immediate challenges facing the new president? What do the election results tell us about how politics and culture are changing in the United States? Are there unique challenges for Christian citizens in the months and years to come? With a new president selected, what direction will our country face? What policies are likely to change? How does separation of powers and the U.S. governmental system impact the new President and his/her priorities?

Featuring:
Kevin den Dulk, Doug Koopman, Becca McBride, Mikael Pelz, and Micah Watson (all from Calvin College's Political Science Department)

As the dust settles, this final panel discussion in the Challenges for the Next President series will consider this uniquely significant Presidential election cycle, and its impact on the country, the world around us, and people of faith.
