The Calvin Theatre Company is pleased to present Nicholas Nickleby, adapted by Jonathan Holloway from the classic novel by Charles Dickens. Returning guest director Michael Page brings this story to life. In true Dickensian fashion, the play follows a young, down-and-out Nicholas as he seeks to save his family from destitution. Having no resources of his own, Nicholas turns to his wealthy uncle, Ralph Nickleby—a corrupt and manipulative businessman who wreaks havoc upon the lives of the young students attending the boarding school he manages. Nicholas soon discovers he must fight against this greed and moral bankruptcy if he’s to save the students, his family, and himself.
This CTC production will feature several actors playing multiple parts, original music, and a theatrical style inspired by German Expressionism. It promises to be visually stunning and memorable.
