Displaced Dirt: Keeping Sediment out of Streams
Celebrate Earth Day with Plaster Creek Stewards by learning about the impact of dirty stormwater into Plaster Creek. Too much sediment in the stream is one of the major impairments, or nonpoint source pollution, that impacts Plaster Creek's aquatic organisms.
We will meet on Saturday, April 22 in the Calvin Chapel Undercroft at 9:00am for a brief educational presentation on "Displaced Dirt: Keeping Sediment out of Streams" followed by hands-on restoration activities to keep sediments out of the stream (storm drain labeling, planting rain gardens among other things). New this spring: MY GR City points for volunteering!
Dress for the weather and bring work/garden gloves if available.
RSVP plastercreekstewards@calvin.edu so that we have enough refreshments and to let us know if you'd like transportation to the volunteer sites.
