Mixed media work by Jennifer L. Hand
The Calvin College Department of Art and Art History is pleased to present Remembrances, an exhibition of mixed media work by artist Jennifer L. Hand. On view March 1–April 28, Reception: March 1, 6–8 p.m.
Jennifer shares:
The work in this show comes out of the last 6 years, a period of my life that began with settling into a new home on 7 acres in the woods. My interest in the relationship between human beings and the natural world has intensified in this place and I find myself collaborating with nature more and more, working with it in a more tactile, direct way by allowing what was once subject to now become the actual material. The work is about love and mystery, birth and death, beginnings and endings, and the journey in between.
Jennifer is an instructor of studio art for the School of Visual Arts at Virginia Tech. She received her BFA from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI in 1992 and her MFA in painting from Radford University in Radford, VA in 1995. She has shown her work in close to 100 exhibitions since 1991 including 36 solo and collaborative exhibitions and 63 juried and group exhibitions ranging in location from New York City to Washington state to Gdansk, Poland.
