The Beltline Collaborative presents:
Human Trafficking: The Multiple Roles for Social Workers
Human trafficking is an important human rights and social justice issue, and social workers play a critical role in preventing and addressing it in our communities. Social workers need to be equipped with knowledge about human trafficking, including the types of trafficking and settings in which it takes place. Because social workers practice in various settings, they can address human trafficking in different contexts and at multiple levels. For instance, social workers may serve as first responders, identifying victim-survivors of trafficking and providing supports. Social workers also play an important role in public policy, advocating at various levels to promote policies and practices that adequately prevent and respond to human trafficking.
