"The Rivalry in Concert"
We all know how intense the competition can be between Calvin and Hope in athletic contests; what would happen if these two schools came together for a musical performance? Come to “The Rivalry in Concert” to find out!
Actually, this intends to be a meaningful collaboration between two talented Wind Ensembles, with a combined program of “Songs and Dances.” The Calvin Wind Ensemble will offer various “songs,” such as Yasuhide Ito’s Gloriosa, Bernard Gilmore’s Five Folksongs for Soprano and Band, and Dana Wilson’s Shakata: Singing the World Into Existence. The Hope Wind Ensemble will present different dances before a combined bands performance of Armenian Dances by Alfred Reed.
There are actually two installments of this program. The first will be held in the auditorium at the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts on the Hope College campus on Friday, February 24 at 7:30pm. The second will be in the Covenant Fine Arts Center Auditorium on Saturday, March 4 at 8:00pm. So come wearing your team colors and support your musical Knights!
TICKETS: Both concerts are free and open to the public; no tickets are required.
