Prof. Patricia Devine Ph.D. and assistant scientist William Cox Ph.D., from University of Wisconsin-Madison will present their ground-breaking workas part of the Bouma Lecture Series. Thirty years ago, Devine initiated pioneering research regarding implicit bias. More recently, she and Cox created an evidence-based intervention that has demonstrated success at decreasing bias incidents and promoting equality. Their semi-interactive workshop which includes a continental breakfast will be held on Wednesday, May 2 from 8-10:20am in the Commons Lecture Hall at Calvin College. Additionally, Devine and Cox will present an afternoon lecture, titled "Empowering People to Break the Prejudice Habit: Creating Inclusion and Reducing Bias" at 4:00pm in the Gezon Auditorium. The lecture is open to the public, and sign-up is not necessary. The workshop and lecture are part of the Bouma Lecture Series sponsored by the Department of Sociology and Social Work at Calvin College.
