Why keep making art when suffering, injustice, and oppression are wreaking havoc on the planet? Can we? Should we? Mitali Perkins will share her struggles and mistakes candidly and describes a few practices that have helped her find her place of service as a creative for three decades. As the daughter of Bengali immigrants who studied political science and public policy to battle poverty and then became a writer of fiction for young people, Perkins offers a unique, justice-driven perspective on creativity. Open to everyone 8th grade and up.
