Career Development Conference for Employers
Career Development’s Employer Conference will place on May 24, 12:30-3:30, at the Prince Conference Center on our campus in Grand Rapids. This conference will provide you with key insights on how to integrate multiple generations in the workplace as well as best practices related to university recruiting. The conference will start with lunch, followed by two sessions.
Session One: “How to Successfully Integrate Multiple Generations in the Workplace”
David Bolt, President of GMB Architecture and Engineering
- GMB has used innovative methods to ensure the employees from the multiple generations working alongside each other can succeed in their roles. From allowing employees to work from offices in multiple cities to giving them power over designing their work environment, GMB’s practices have revolutionized the attitudes and loyalty of their employees spanning all generations of their workforce.
Session Two: “How to Create and Maintain a Best in Class University Relations Program”
Jodi Hutchinson, Regional HR Manager at Art Van, previously University Relations Manager at Meijer and Dow Corning; and
TaRita Johnson, Director of Career Development at Calvin College, previously Corporate Talent Acquisition Manager at Meijer and Vice President of Campus Recruiting at KeyBank
- Companies know that they need to attract and retain strong internship and entry-level candidates to create a healthy pipeline of talent into their organizations, but many companies do not approach college hiring strategically, and many operate on a tight budget. This session will help attendees develop a strategic approach to college recruitment and retention with limited resources.
