Join us at the Meeter Center on November 1st for an open house followed by a poetry reading and afternoon tea! The open house, featuring our special exhibit on “The Puritans and Their Impact” will take place between 10 and 11 am, and will include a short presentation. This exhibit showcases a curated collection of works by English and American Puritans, including Bibles, theological works, and devotional texts. We deeply appreciate the loan of several books from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary’s rare book collection.
Later that same afternoon at 3:30 we’ll hold a Reformation-era poetry reading and afternoon tea. Calvin University English professors Chad Engbers, Debra Rienstra, and David Urban will read poems by sixteenth- and seventeenth-century English poets John Donne, John Milton, Mary Sidney, and George Herbert. Scones and tea will be served.
