Cathy O'Neil will discuss how our world is increasingly being affected by algorithms -- where we go to school, whether we get a car loan, and how much we pay for health insurance. She will discuss how these mathematical models, while created to judge everyone by the same rules and eliminate bias, actually create bias and reinforce discrimination.
