Many whales change their behavior in response to underwater noise, like the sounds from naval sonar operations. Our research team has been working to understand the details of these responses, and the implications for individual and population health. Please join me for a talk that will explore the engineering, field work, software, and statistical modelling we need to answer these important conservation questions. I will also highlight areas of opportunity for two Calvin summer research students to join our team and contribute to our research.
Refreshments precede the talk at 3:30 p.m. in North Hall 282.
