Though COVID has raised multiple challenges with regular activities, the Calvin Bands are still going strong with in-person music-making and are especially grateful to be indoors. This semester has been all about making creative adjustments, a reality that will be reflected in Wind Ensemble’s fall program themed “Adaptations.” The program features works that have been modified for our current conditions: Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Folk Song Suite, Bernard Rogers’ Three Japanese Dances, Felix Mendelssohn’s Overture for Winds, and John Mackey’s Strange Humors. We’ll also include a few selections by J.S. Bach that have been adapted by gifted composers Percy Grainger and Gustav Holst.
The performance will be held on Friday, November 13 at 8pm in the Covenant Fine Arts Center Auditorium. In-person audience will be limited in number and restricted to only those in our Calvin-cleared community. This concert will also be made available via livestream. We hope you’ll make plans to join us, in some capacity, on November 13!
