Following their January Series performance in the afternoon, join us in the evening for a film and talk back with The 5 Browns.
Along with the 12:30 p.m. January Series performance of The 5 Browns on January 16, there will be an evening viewing of the documentary about them called “The 5 Browns: Digging into the Darkness” which tells the hidden secret they kept for years about the sexual abuse the three girls experienced from their father who was also their manager. It is the story of how the girls have bravely spoken the truth and their search for healing through the transformative power of music. It also tells of the advocacy work they are doing through their foundation Survivors of Abuse. The mission of their foundation is to use the experience of survivors of sexual abuse as a tool to educate the general public and state legislators of the unjust laws regarding statutes of limitation for these crimes. The viewing will take place in the CFAC Recital Hall at 7:00 p.m. and will include a talk back with Deondra and Desirae Brown moderated by Pastor Mary. This evening event is co-sponsored by Campus Ministries, The Sexuality Series, and The January Series.
