2021 Outstanding Corporate Business Partner Award
The Cascade Group at Morgan Stanley
The Cascade Group at Morgan Stanley has served the greater West Michigan community for over 20 years as a financial advisory team with a reputation for integrity, loyalty and exceptional client service. Of the eight professionals that make up the Cascade Group, six attended Calvin, five graduated from Calvin, and two served as interns from Calvin. In addition to their commitment to hiring our best and brightest, two members of the team, Jack Sytsma and Rob Flermoen, have provided invaluable input for and regularly speak to students in classes in personal financial management and the new bachelor of science in financial planning program.
2021 Outstanding Business Partner Award
Dr. Cheryl Brandsen
Cheryl Brandsen served as the provost of Calvin University until her retirement in June. As the chief academic officer, Dr. Brandsen championed tremendous growth, innovation, and new program development in business at Calvin University. Programs added under her watch include the master of accounting, the MBA online, bachelor of science in financial planning, and a whole new undergraduate curriculum in business including several new majors and minors. She was also instrumental in the planning and formation of the Calvin University School of Business and in guiding three interim associate deans in laying the groundwork for the search for and hiring of our first Dean, Jim Ludema.
Keynote Speaker | Dr. James Ludema
Dr. James Ludema is an experienced educator, researcher, and administrator who has an extensive network in the business world and consulting experience for Fortune 500 Companies. Jim is a Calvin graduate who will share insights on Reformed Christian Higher Education in Business.
