How Endothelial Cells Help HIV Infect T Cells
Bri Busscher, Maria Emerson, Meghan Schilthuis
HIV, a virus which infects the T cells of the immune system, remains incurable despite modern medical therapies. Endothelial cells, which line the blood and lymphatic vessels, have been shown to promote HIV infection in T cells. Our research seeks to understand this interesting communication between T cells and endothelial cells and to grow the scientific knowledge about HIV infection and persistence.
