Profs. Kevin den Dulk (Political Science) and Roman Williams (Sociology) will present the preliminary results of their project, “Visualizing Faith and Citizenship.”
Instead of banning smartphones from the learning environment, what if we could use them to collect data and engage students? What would happen if we swiped right, as it were, on student use of mobile devices as a tool for both research and pedagogy?
Profs. Kevin den Dulk (Political Science) and Roman Williams (Sociology) will present the preliminary results of their project, “Visualizing Faith and Citizenship.” Their project combines smartphone photography and audio journaling to investigate religion and citizenship in cross-national perspective. After nearly two years, they are surprised by the pedagogical benefits in comparison to the usefulness of the data they collected.
