Modernity Against Sacrifice: From Kant via Girard to Contemporary Feminisms
Calvin Theological Seminary and Calvin College warmly welcome Dr. Sarah Coakley as this year’s speaker in the Stob Lecture Series. These lectures are free and open to the public.
Dr. Coakley, a Fellow at Murray Edwards College at the University of Cambridge, will deliver two lectures. Wednesday’s lecture is titled “Modernity Against Sacrifice: From Kant via Girard to Contemporary Feminisms.” Thursday’s lecture is on “Retrieving Sacrifice: Why a Classic Christian (and Reformed) Theme Refuses to Die.”
Dr. Coakley holds the chair at Cambridge in the philosophy of religion, and has previously taught at the Universities of Lancaster, Oxford, Harvard, and Princeton. Learn more about Dr. Coakley’s research and publications on her faculty page ».
The Stob Lectures are sponsored annually by Calvin College and Calvin Theological Seminary in honor of Dr. Henry J. Stob. Their subject matter is related to the fields of ethics, apologetics and philosophical theology.
