Prof. Julia Lupton, Shakespeare Scholar
October 29, 7 p.m.
Calvin College Chapel
Prof. Julia Lupton’s forthcoming book, Shakespeare’s Virtues: Ethics, Entertainment and Education, explores the virtues dramatized in William Shakespeare’s plays, cultivated in theatrical work, and exercised in literature classrooms. Shakespeare’s Virtues makes the case for increased knowledge and skill-sharing among scholars and artists alike. She will be joining the Calvin community for an all-campus lecture on the arts as essential to understanding and living a virtuous life. Prof. Lupton directs an arts and culture initiative at the University of California, Irvine, where she also serves as Associate Dean for Research in the School of Humanities. She is the author/co-author of four books on Shakespeare. Sponsored by the English Department
