In the midst of Grand Rapids' deadliest year in history, and calls for defunding the police, JD Chapman is working to disrupt destructive thoughts and behaviors in the lives of at-risk youth and bring change. His local non-profit Realism Is Loyalty, is dedicated "to Empower, Encourage and Strengthen youth in spite of story, system, or choice". Beyond his work with individual young people, Chapman advocates for community change. He has been working to bring the global Cure Violence program to Grand Rapids to address the pattern of violence in our city.
