Eve Tushnet, author of "Gay and Catholic: Accepting My Sexuality, Finding Community, Living My Faith," places important questions of singleness squarely on the table - for gay and straight Christians alike. With a focus on vocation, service and friendship, Eve explores ways to move beyond a "vocation of no" for same-sex oriented persons.
Eve Tushnet is the author of Gay and Catholic: Accepting My Sexuality, Finding Community, Living My Faith. She lives in Washington, DC, where she was raised somewhere between atheism and Reform Judaism. Eve co-founded her high school's gay/straight alliance and entered the Catholic Church in 1998, during her sophomore year at Yale University. She is a freelance writer and a recovering alcoholic. In 2010, she was profiled in the New York Times "Beliefs" column. Her recent book, Gay and Catholic: Accepting My Sexuality, Finding Community, Living My Faith, has been described as, “part memoir, part guidebook, and honest to the core.” It won first place in the 2015 Catholic Press Awards: Gender Issues Category.
Eve blogs regularly at The American Conservative and Patheos, as well as at spiritualfriendship.org. Her work has been published by the Atlantic, Weekly Standard, Commonweal, and First Things, and she has written for the Washington Post "On Faith" blog and the New York Times "Room for Debate." She has spoken on being gay and Catholic at Carnegie-Mellon University, Georgetown University, Princeton University, and Fordham, among others.
