This event, hosted by the Rare Disease Network, will bring together research scientists, clinicians and students working in the rare disease space to learn from one another, discuss ideas, and network.
The 2023 Rare Disease Research Symposium, hosted by the Rare Disease Network, will bring together research scientists, clinicians, and students to learn from one another, share methods and findings, discuss ideas and foster new collaborations.
The symposium will feature a keynote address by Corewell Health orthopedic oncologist Matthew Steensma, M.D., who will present a talk titled, “Curing the Uncommon: Successes and Challenges in Rare Disease Research.” Dr. Steensma is also an associate professor at Van Andel Institute, where his lab studies sarcomas, breast cancer and rare diseases such as neurofibromatosis type 1, and an assistant professor of surgery at MSU College of Human Medicine.
