The first Career Breakfast of 2020 will feature 2010 Calvin grad Becky Buursma who graduated with a major in International Relations and minor in International Development. Becky started her career after Calvin working in Jakarta, Indonesia for World Vision's education and development team and then for Search for Common Ground. She then moved to Washington, DC as an Executive Assistant for Congressman Bill Huizenga on Capitol Hill, and then went on to the International Republican Institute (IRI), a democracy development organization for nearly six years. She began her tenure at IRI with the Asia Division in 2013, and after two years on the Cambodia and Indonesia portfolios, Becky transitioned to the newly forming Business Development Team as the team manager, when she facilitated the formalization of internal procedures, helped forge new partnerships, and assisted in competing for several multi-million dollar government grants. In 2019, Becky and her family moved to Grand Rapids where she now works remotely for a consulting group.
