Title: "Organometallic Functionalization of Colloidal Nanocrystal Surfaces"
Guest Speaker: Emily Tsui- University of Notre Dame
Despite the many advances in semiconductor nanocrystal technologies, characterization and rational modification of nanocrystal surfaces remains a longstanding challenge. At its core, these issues remain a problem that can be addressed through fundamental inorganic chemistry. Here, we show that metal carbonyl complexes can be selectively attached to nanocrystal surfaces. These organometallic species can be used as spectroscopic reporters of surface-centered redox processes as well as new functional reaction centers for new nanocrystal-promoted reactions.
