The Amgen Scholars Program provides hundreds of undergraduate students with the opportunity to engage in a hands-on summer research experience at some of the world's leading institutions. The research projects are primarily in the areas of biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, microbiology, neuroscience, genetics and related disciplines.
The Amgen Scholars Program provides hundreds of undergraduate students with the opportunity to engage in a hands-on summer research experience at some of the world's leading institutions. This is a prestigious summer research program held at various locations including Cal Tech, UCLA, U of Washington, UCSD, MIT, Stanford, Cambridge University (England), and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, among others. The research projects are primarily in the areas of biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, microbiology, neuroscience, genetics and related disciplines. Includes a generous stipend and all expenses. Three Calvin students have been accepted to this program in previous years.
Apply
Each host university has its own application process. You can apply to participate at as many host universities as you are interested in. The application at each host university requires, at a minimum, the submission of an official transcript, a letter of recommendation, and a personal statement or essay.
In the U.S., the application deadline for host universities is in early February, with the exception of the California Institute of Technology, for which the deadline is in mid-February. In Europe, the application deadline for host universities is in early February.
To apply to be an Amgen Scholar, go to the Host Universities section of this website and click on the U.S. Program or Europe Program. Then click on the host university you’re interested in.
