Biography
Professor Pruis received an MBA from the University of Michigan School of Business and a BA in business with an accounting concentration from Calvin College. He currently teaches Corporate Finance, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Financial Instruments and Markets and Personal Finance. In addition, Professor Pruis has previously taught Intermediate Accounting I & II, Financial Accounting and Advanced Corporate Finance. Prior to joining the business faculty at Calvin in 2014, Professor Pruis was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs where he most recently served as the Chief of Staff for the Operations Division. Professor Pruis has spent a good portion of the 15 years prior to entering higher education in market infrastructure strategy for Goldman Sachs (planning and helping the formation of new exchanges, clearing organizations and other securities industry technology and market data companies) which has led to his serving as Chief Executive/President of two different industry owned bank consortiums, one in the securities lending business (EquiLend) and the other the US clearinghouse for credit default swaps (ICE Clear Credit, formerly ICE Trust, owned by IntercontinentalExchange, Inc. Ticker: ICE). He has also held leadership positions for Goldman Sachs in offices in Japan as well as Mexico. Professor Pruis has performed consulting for Goldman Sachs and previously served as an advisor to the board of Clarient Global LLC, another consortium, this one in the client reference data business, owned by a number of Wall Street banks and The Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation. Professor Pruis began his career in public accounting and worked as a CPA in both the Grand Rapids and New York offices of Deloitte & Touche.
