Biography
Tiffany Engle joined the music faculty at Calvin in 2005. In addition to conducting the Sym¬phonic Band and Wind Ensemble, she teaches courses in Applied Saxophone and Conducting. Dr. Engle also serves as Department Co-chair.
Dr. Engle is deeply committed to service that inspires rich musical involvement in the lives of others. She is the director of Calvin’s Knollcrest Music Camp, a summer program for middle school and high school students. Dr. Engle regularly serves as a clinician with various school ensembles throughout Michigan. She is the conductor of the Rockford Community Band, a position she has held since January 2008. Dr. Engle remains an active performer on saxophone, both as a soloist and as a member of various small groups.
In 2021, Dr. Engle was selected to as one of twelve fellows for the Reynolds Conducting Institute (held in conjunction with the Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic). She is also a frequent presenter at the Michigan Music Conference. Dr. Engle completed her DMA in Wind Conducting at Michigan State University. She holds a MM in Wind Conducting from Ithaca College (New York) and a BM (summa cum laude) in Saxophone Performance from Capital University in her native Ohio. Dr. Engle is an honorary member of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) through which she also serves as an adjudicator. She also holds active memberships in the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), the National Band Association (NBA), and the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA).
Dr. Engle participates in the music and children’s ministries at Brookside CRC. When not teaching or making music, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her mini-goldendoodle, Winnie.
