Alan Jacobs is Distinguished Professor of the Humanities in the Honors Program at Baylor University. His most recent books are The Year of Our Lord 1943: Christian Humanism in an Age of Crisis, How to Think, and The Book of Common Prayer: A Biography. In 1984, Jacobs started teaching at Wheaton College in Illinois and started working at Baylor University in 2013. He is a native of Alabama, attended the University of Alabama, and then received his PhD from the University of Virginia. He has been married to his wife Teri for thirty-seven years, and together they have one son, Wesley.
