Due to contract restrictions, this presentation will be available to view through January 9, 2023.

Sara Hendren is an artist, design researcher, writer, and professor at Olin College of Engineering. She also considers herself a humanist in tech—creating collaborative public art, social design, and writings that reframe the human body and technology.

In her book, What Can a Body Do? How We Meet the Built World, Hendren examines the things we use and spaces we inhabit and calls for society to imagine a better-designed world for all bodies. NPR selected the book as a Best Book of the Year, and it won the Science in Society Journalism book prize.

Her artistic work has been exhibited widely and is held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Cooper Hewitt Museum. Hendren’s writing and design work have been featured in The New York TimesFast Company, and NPR. Hendren has also been a fellow at New America and the Carey Institute for Global Good.
