Anchor by Night, Teacher by Day
On Thursday evenings, Jessica Harthorn is at the anchor desk, delivering the news for west Michigan’s CBS affiliate WWMT-TV in Kalamazoo. Less than 10 hours after signing off, she heads 50 miles north to Calvin University for her next assignment.

Liza Skrypak is a refugee from Ukraine who begins her time at Calvin this fall. She hopes to create a documentary on her home country and chose to study at Calvin University because of the strong film and media program that will help her pursue her calling.

Flipping the script unlocks stories of transformation
While Nate Roels started at Calvin in 2013 as a business major, he soon discovered a deeper passion for film and media. So, he flipped the script, switched his major to a minor and pursued filmmaking. Now, he has a documentary film making its debut on the big screen.
