Transfer Students
Academics / Departments & Programs / Engineering / Before Calvin / Transfer Students
Transferring from one engineering program to another might seem complex, but it can be done! We'll work to welcome you into Calvin's engineering program as efficiently as possible.
Most transfer students cannot receive full credit for all of their courses from other schools; therefore, two years at one school does not necessarily equal two years of credit at Calvin. Most commonly, students are able to transfer enough credits to complete an engineering degree from Calvin in three to three-and-a-half years.
An important thing to keep in mind as you plan your transfer is that all engineering programs are sequential in nature—meaning you must take Physics 186 before you take Physics 235. At Calvin, the engineering courses are all calculus-based; because of this, algebra classes will not transfer to Calvin.
If you are interested in transferring to Calvin, submit a copy of your transcripts and course syllabi to the engineering department chair for review at engineering@calvin.edu. Please allow for a minimum of two weeks for the evaluation to be complete.
