Describe your experience at Calvin in three words.
Enlightening, Enriching, Stretching
What led you to Calvin University and the study of music?
I visited Calvin for the first time as a Sophomore in High School. I spoke to professors Fuentes and Nordling during my Fridays visit, and I appreciated their insight and wisdom. Interacting with people at Calvin made me realize how special the school really is. I deeply appreciate the theology and philosophy behind Calvin’s mission and the recognition that no matter your professional calling, that Christ claims all the world as His and calls us to take part in His redemptive work in the world.
What do you enjoy most about being a music major?
One of the things I enjoy most about being a music major is the fact that I am given the opportunity to collaborate with other amazing musicians at Calvin all the time. Playing solos is fun, but music-making becomes much more enriching and interesting when you get together with your colleagues and create something amazing together!
When do you plan to graduate and with what degree?
I plan on graduating this Spring with a Bachelors of Arts in applied music and a Congregational Ministry Leadership Minor in worship.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
When I grow up, at least on the job side of things, I’d like to be a full-time Worship Director who also plays in a semi-professional symphony and teaches horn lessons.
