At the High School Honor Band Festival, we host students, band directors, families, and friends from a number of West Michigan high schools.

The festival is an opportunity for students to interact, learn from, and perform with members of Calvin’s music faculty. This year, participants will also have the opportunity to work with Dr. Peter Boonshaft (Professor Emeritus, Hofstra University).


Festival Schedule

  • 7:30-8:00am - Registration in Covenant Fine Arts Center
  • 7:45-8:15am - Seating auditions
  • 8:30-10:30am - Full ensemble rehearsal
  • 10:30-10:45am - Break
  • 10:45-11:30am - Sectional sessions with Calvin applied faculty
  • 11:30-11:45am - Break
  • 11:45am-12:30pm - Full ensemble rehearsal
  • 12:30-1:30pm - Lunch
  • 1:30-5:00pm - Full ensemble rehearsal
  • 5:00-6:00pm - Dinner
  • 6:00-7:00pm - Break
  • 7:00pm - Concert (Calvin Wind Ensemble and HS Honor Band)
