The Bunker Interpretive Center (BIC) is located in the Calvin Ecosystem Preserve & Native Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The LEED certified building is our primary educational facility for the general public and the Calvin University community.

Facility

The Bunker Interpretive Center, at the Calvin Ecosystem Preserve & Native Gardens, provides approximately 5,000 square feet of space which serves as a home base for programs, a study center for the university community, and an educational resource for the general public. Included in that space are a laboratory classroom, a multi-purpose room, and a display hall. The multi-purpose room, depending on its configuration, serves as a lecture hall or as an exploratory space for elementary classes. The display hallway houses permanent and temporary displays to help visitors better understand the flora and fauna of the Great Lakes region.

We encourage you to stop in and check out our seasonal educational displays, view some Michigan frogs and turtles up close, read a storybook or two, star in your own puppet show, and visit with our friendly and knowledgeable staff. Throughout the year, we also offer a variety of educational programs for all ages. Please visit the educational programs pages to see our current schedule of events and programs.
