Ready to apply for a Calvin summer off-campus program? Complete the checklist below.
1. Review the currently-offered summer programs
Review the list of active summer off-campus programs, noting your desired program's cost, location, travel information, and other important details. This is also a good time to talk to the program instructor(s) about any questions or special considerations.
2. Confirm your eligibility
To participate in a Calvin off-campus summer program, you must meet the following criteria:
- Have sophomore status or above
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.0
- Complete the online application process (see below)
- Be up-to-date with all your vaccinations, including the COVID vaccine
Note that individual summer programs may have modified or additional deadlines to be aware of. Consult the summer program descriptions for any additional details specific to the program you're applying to join.
Passport: If the program is outside of the U.S., make sure your passport is up-to-date (and will not expire anytime in the next year). For passport renewal and other services, visit the U.S. Department of State's passport site.
Post-Graduation Participation: If you wish to participate in an off-campus program during the summer after completing your undergraduate program, you have two options:
- Push back your program completion date to the next graduation date (e.g. May graduation date moves to August). You would then register for the off-campus program and receive academic credit.
- Apply with Admissions as a guest student. You would then register for the course without affecting your original graduation date. If you wish to receive academic credit, you will be charged the regular course fee (program cost + tuition). If you wish to audit the course, you will be charged the program cost + visitor fee (no tuition).

3. Note the deadlines
Contact the instructor of the summer program (and check the program description) to find out about deadlines specific to your chosen program.
Important: Please allow yourself plenty of time and plan to begin the application process well before the summer application deadline. Although the application process is all online, it takes several days to complete, as you must wait for approvals from various departments across campus.
