Calvin University Safer Spaces staff are trained using Thompson and Coburn Title IX Training Series Materials, Kathryn Nash, TrainED Solutions, Atixa Training (Coordinator), and other internal training materials.

Title IX Coordinator:

The TrainED Title IX/VAWA Investigator Training provides an overview of the Investigator role according to the new 2020 Title IX rules and regulations. The training covered the following topics: Overview of Title IX process, Practicing Objectivity, Legal requirements, Stages of the Investigation, and Drafting Investigation Reports.

The TrainED Title IX/VAWA Hearing Panel Training provides an overview of the Hearing Panel role according to the new 2020 Title IX rules and regulations. The training covered the following topics: Overview of Title IX process, Practicing Objectivity, Hearing/Decision-Making process, Legal requirements, Stages of Adjudication Process, and Live Hearings.

  • Atixa Title IX Certification (June 2022)

The content and discussion in this course will necessarily engage with sex- and gender-based harassment, discrimination, and violence and associated sensitive topics that can evoke strong emotional responses. ATIXA faculty members may offer examples that emulate the language and vocabulary that Title IX practitioners may encounter in their roles including slang, profanity, and other graphic or offensive language.

    The Calvin University Campus Security Authority Training through Vector LMS. The Clery Act requires all colleges and universities to report specific types of crimes that occur on or immediately adjacent to college owned properties along with properties leased to or used by the college for educational purposes. This includes educational programs that are located in other states as well as other countries. The video training reviews the roles, responsibilities, and importance of a Campus Security Authority.

St. Mary's College presented a forum for survivors to share their stories, panels for discussion, and presentations by researchers on sexual violence - essential information for survivors, advocates, and prevention educators.  Educational Workshops and Panels included:  Interdisciplinary Responses to Gender-Based Violence (Catherine Cerulli), Cause and Effect:  Mitigating the Impact of Sexual Assault & Violence Against the LGBTQ+ Community (Meghan Buell, TREES; Kelly Faust, St. Mary's College; and, Sara Sage (Sage Counseling, LLC), Spirituality as Healing & Heartbreak (Julia Feder), and Was That Them or Their Trauma?:  Understanding the Impact of Trauma on the Brain (Connie Adams).
